  • System Enhancements & Integration: Spearhead the expansion and refinement of existing databases and the automation of modules across platforms, this includes existing system and developments of web-based interfaces, ensuring seamless real-time interconnectivity.
  • Database & System Management: Maintain the integrity of database linkages, implement updates, and troubleshoot across all web-based systems promptly, ensuring minimal disruption and optimal performance.
  • IT Collaboration & Support: Collaborate closely with the IT team to manage web server configurations, email notifications, and database access, ensuring robust security and efficient operation. Managing linkages between all existing and new databases and ensuring modifications in geography or additional variables does not disrupt systems.
  • Server Management: Setup and manage email gateway from Apache servers, configuring name servers for subdomains, configuring Corn jobs and server triggers for automated operations. Configuring Linux based Web server to Apache web server configured for all modules written in PHP and configuring Linux based database server to MySQL database server.
  • APIs & Application Upgrades: Lead the development of web APIs for dynamic data exchange and oversee the transition of applications to advanced platforms, optimizing for Linux environments and ensuring server configurations are optimized for PHP and MySQL.
  • Data Security & Analysis Support: Design comprehensive data backup strategies, support advanced data analysis. And maintain a robust testing environment, aiding in insightful decision-making through web automation and GIS applications. Support in data analysis, visualization, web automation, use of web-based systems and extract data via customized data queries for decision-making.
  • Technical Documentation & Support: Document development processes and updates meticulously, contributing to team knowledge sharing. And remain adaptable, taking on additional responsibilities as needed to support the Risk Assessment and Decision Support Unit’s goals.
  • Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor in accordance with the objectives and deliverables of the Risk Assessment and Decision Support Unit

Professional Skills and Experience

  • Database Development Expertise: A minimum of One (1) Year of hands-on experience in developing, managing, and optimizing large-scale databases. Capability with present day information base advancements, for example, PostgreSQL, MySQL and Microsoft SQL Server is fundamental.
  • Advanced Web Development Skills: Demonstrated ability in building and deploying robust web applications from the ground up. Experience with the latest frameworks and languages such as CodeIgniter, Laravel, Node.js, React, Angular, Custom PHP, HTML5, CSS3, and modern JavaScript (ES6+), including libraries like React or Vue.js, is required.
  • Experience with International Organizations: Prior engagement with UN agencies or similar international organizations will be highly regarded. Especially projects that demonstrate an understanding of global standards and multicultural working environments.
  • Mobile Development Proficiency: Strong knowledge in cross-platform mobile applications using frameworks such as Flutter, React Native, or Swift for iOS and Kotlin for Android.
  • Data Analysis and Visualization Tools: Competency in utilizing advanced data analysis and visualization tools like Python (Pandas, NumPy) for data manipulation. Along with proficiency in Tableau, Power BI, and advanced usage of Excel for insightful data presentations and decision-making.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent command of the English language, both in oral and written forms. Capable of producing clear documentation and effectively collaborating in a diverse team environment.

Educational Background

Degree in Software engineering or Related Field: A Bosses certification/Four year college education in Software engineering, Data Innovation, or a firmly related discipline is required. Should have solid knowledge in software development principles, data structures, algorithms, and system design.
